Another COVID death at BWH, 100 new cases reported

Bluewater Health is reporting another COVID-19 related death.

Since the start of the pandemic there have been 69 deaths at the hospital. Communications Chief Julia Oosterman said the latest death was a patient from outside Sarnia-Lambton.

There are 15 COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, down from 17 on Wednesday. Oosterman said 95 per cent of the patients are unvaccinated, seven are in the ICU, and three are on ventilators.

Lambton Public Health reported 100 new confirmed cases of the virus Thursday, as well as 50 resolved cases, increasing the active case count by 50 to 582.

Since March 2020, there have been 5,391 infections, 4,726 recoveries and 83 local deaths.

There are three active outbreaks, down from nine on Wednesday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
