UPDATE: Damage estimated at $1.5M after fire on Dover Centre Line

The cause is going down as undetermined after a costly fire on Dover Centre Line between Baldoon Road and Highway 40 on Wednesday.

Fire crews from Stations 4 (Dover), 5 (Tupperville), 6 (Dresden), and Unit 1-13 were called to the scene at 8323 Dover Centre Line (formerly the Beddell's frozen food warehouse) just after 8 a.m. Wednesday morning and said heavy smoke was already showing from the front half of the building, which had been converted to migrant housing and office space.

Fire officials said an excavator was called in to knock down the back half of the building that was attached to a larger warehouse.

No injuries were reported, but the damage was estimated at $1.5 million. The Office of the Fire Marshal was also called in to investigate.
