LPH reports 209 new cases of COVID-19

There was a dramatic spike in COVID-19 cases in Sarnia-Lambton Friday.

Lambton Public Health reported 209 new cases of the virus, and 16 more cases have been deemed resolved.

That puts the active case count to 775, an increase of 193 since Thursday.

The death toll remains at 83 and there are four community outbreaks, up one.

Since the pandemic began in March 2020, there have been 5,600 confirmed infections and 4,742 recoveries.

There are 16 COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, an increase of one since Thursday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
