Death toll rises to 84, active COVID caseload tops 1,000

Lambton Public Health reported another COVID-related death Sunday.

Since the start of the pandemic there have been 84 deaths linked to the virus in Sarnia-Lambton. Details about the patient, including age, were not immediately available.

The health unit reported 345 new cases of COVID-19 since the last update on Friday.

There were 82 cases deemed resolved, increasing the active case count by 262 to 1,037.

There were three new outbreaks reported in the community for a total of seven.

Since the pandemic began in March 2020, there have been 5,945 confirmed infections and 4,824 cases have been deemed resolved.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
