Midwestern Ontario Counties offer free childcare to frontline workers

With schools pivoting to remote learning until at least January 17, 2022,  a few local Counties are offering help for families of front line workers.

All licensed before and after school care, school board operated and authorized recreation and skill building programs will also be closed for at least the next two weeks.

Both Huron and Wellington County will tap into the province's Emergency Child Care Program to support health care and other eligible front line workers at no cost .

Wellington County is working with licensed child care providers to offer emergency child care to children aged 4 to 12 through existing licensed programs and participating licensed home child care providers.

Starting January 10, The County of Huron and partner agencies will offer free care to eligible children at existing licensed child care programs for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and centre-based kindergarten programs. The County of Huron has worked closely with Huron-Perth Public Health to develop procedures that are required in the operation of Emergency Licensed Child Care services to help limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
