BWH reports small drop in COVID patients

Local COVID-19 hospitalizations are down slightly from Thursday.

On Friday, Bluewater Health reported 53 positive patients at the Sarnia hospital, down four. The hospital said nine of those patients are in intensive care.

In its daily update, Lambton Public Health reported 89 new lab confirmed cases of the virus as well as 71 resolved cases, increasing the number of known active infections to 624.

Since March 2020, there have been 8,202 confirmed cases locally, 7,477 recoveries and 101 deaths.

There are 17 active workplace and institutional outbreaks, down one.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
