Another COVID-19 death in Chatham-Kent

Chatham-Kent Public Health is reporting another death linked to COVID-19.

The death was reported Monday morning.

According to spokesperson Jeff Moco, the most recent death involves a woman in her 90s. It is unknown if she was vaccinated against the virus.

The local health unit has now logged a total of 41 deaths linked to COVID-19 since the pandemic started.

A new outbreak has also been reported in the community. The latest outbreak is at St. Andrew's Residence in Chatham and involves three active cases. There are now 12 active outbreaks being reported in the area. The largest remains at Hudson Manor in Tilbury with 29 active cases. The second largest is at Village on the Ridge in Ridgetown with 25 active cases.

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance reported on Monday that 32 patients are in the hospital, 14 of them being treated for COVID-19. Six of the patients are in the intensive care unit.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff
