UPDATE: One person suffers "critical injuries" after crash on EB Hwy. 401 in CK

A section of Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent is reopened following a collision on Thursday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police said two vehicles were involved in the crash, which took place just west of Bloomfield Road (Exit 81) at around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed at Queens Line (Exit 63) for about five hours.

Chatham-Kent EMS sent out a message just before 10:30 a.m. Thursday noting that three paramedic units were called to the scene and assessed three patients -- two suffering minor injuries and a third patient who suffered critical injuries.

OPP later confirmed that two people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and one person was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
