Driver hits police vehicle 

An 85-year-old Chatham man is facing an impaired driving charge after hitting a police cruiser.

On Sunday afternoon, police said they received a report about a possible impaired driver on Longwoods Road between Kent Bridge Road and Huffs Side Road.

According to police, the car was veering into oncoming traffic. As officers attempted to stop it, the vehicle struck a police cruiser.

Through investigation, police believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.

As a result, the 85-year-old driver was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and released from custody with a future court date.

The man and one officer were transported to the hospital for medical attention. Both were treated and released.

Warrant arrest leads to drug charges 

A 26-year-old Chatham man will have to answer to a pair of charges after getting arrested on Sunday afternoon.

Police said they located the man, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant, on Inshes Avenue in Chatham.

When officers searched the man during his arrest, they allegedly found him in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

As a result, the man was additionally charged with drug possession. He was released with a future court date.

Man charged with domestic related offences

A 28-year-old man has a future court date after a domestic argument in Wallaceburg that allegedly turned physical.

Officers said they responded to a domestic disturbance in a parking lot on Sunday morning.

Through investigation, police learned that the man had allegedly assaulted the woman during a verbal argument.

Officers located the accused on Sunday afternoon. The Wallaceburg man was arrested, and charged with assault. He was released with a future court date.

Theft of ATV 

Chatham-Kent police are hoping to track down a stolen ATV.

According to police, unknown suspects entered a shed on Merlin Road sometime between 2:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday and got a way with a a 2016 red Suzuki King Quad 400 ATV with  Ontario license plate 2FY57.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
