Messy weather on the way

Residents of southwestern Ontario can expect a mixed bag of precipitation over the next few days.

Environment Canada has issued a weather advisory for London, Middlesex County, Elgin County, Oxford County, Chatham-Kent, and Windsor-Essex. Forecasters say a system moving into the region late Wednesday will bring rain, freezing rain, and snow.

According to Environment Canada, upwards of 25 mm of rain will fall between late Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. There is the risk of freezing rain on Thursday afternoon and evening. On Thursday night, snow will begin to fall, and forecasters predict accumulation will be in the 4 to 8 cm range.

Blowing snow will also be a concern Thursday night into Friday morning.

"At this time the track of the low pressure system is uncertain, and as such precipitation type, timing and amounts may change," Environment Canada said.

The agency said localized flooding, road closures, and power outages are all a possibility as the system moves through the region.
