Icy, snowy forecast prompts school bus cancellations in CK

School bus routes across Chatham-Kent are being cancelled today in anticipation of a messy mix of wintry weather that’s expected to hit the region today.

Buses in zones 1-8 have all been cancelled for the day "due to forecasted weather and road conditions."

French Catholic school board buses are cancelled today but schools are open for that board.

According to the LKDSB’s inclement weather-related bus cancellation policy, elementary schools will remain open for in-person learning on bus cancellation days.

Secondary school students will engage in remote, teacher-let virtual learning and the schools will be closed to students for in-person learning.

Environment Canada upgraded a special weather statement to a winter storm warning Thursday morning with rain expected to change to freezing rain or ice pellets and then snow Thursday afternoon.
