Rainy start to the week for southwestern Ontario

Residents living in southwestern Ontario are in store for a rainy start to their week.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex, London, and Middlesex County.

The weather agency said total rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 millimetres is possible.

Periods of rain are expected to begin Monday night and persist through to Tuesday night.

There is the risk of light freezing over the Oakridges moraine and portions of southwestern Ontario Monday night.

“The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall,” said the statement.

For information concerning flooding, residents are being asked to contact their local Conservation Authority or the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry District office.
