UPDATE: Ag Day food drive collects $14,000 in donations

The Kent Federation of Agriculture's (KFA) food drive to mark Canada's Agriculture Day collected approximately $14,000 in food and cash donations.

Volunteers collected the donations at the Salvation Army at 46 Orangewood Boulevard between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 22.

All of the donations are being split between the Salvation Army and Outreach for Hunger in Chatham-Kent.

"The KFA, the CK food banks, and local families struggling with food challenges amid the rising costs of groceries, truly appreciate each donation," said a release from the KFA on Wednesday. "We are thankful for our good fortune and the ability to share with those experiencing food insecurities."

Canada's Agriculture Day is a day to celebrate the business of Canadian Agriculture, and is an opportunity for consumers to learn more about where the food comes from and the people who produce it.
