Clachan Road bridge slated for temporary closure

Motorists who take the Clachan Road bridge to go to and from Bothwell will have to find an alternate route.

The bridge will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic starting February 28.

Municipal officials anticipate the project to be completed and the bridge re-opened by the Fall of 2022.

A detour comprised of Chatham-Kent roads and Elgin County roads will be posted to direct traffic around the site. Those roads will include Longwoods Road, Hagerty Road, Morrison Road, Johnston Line, and Clachan Road.

"The navigational clearance for this bridge is 6 metres wide by 3.5 metres high, and every effort will be made to maintain this clearance for safe navigation for the duration of construction," municipal officials said in a release. "Chatham-Kent is committed to working with McLean Taylor Construction to maintain a safe and orderly worksite."
