COVID-related death reported in Sarnia-Lambton

Lambton Public Health (LPH) has reported another COVID-related death, bringing the local death toll up to 135.

The health unit said an individual in their 90s died at a local hospital.

The daily average of COVID-19 cases over the last week in Sarnia-Lambton has also increased.

LPH reported 118 new lab-confirmed infections since its last report on Wednesday. The average number of cases per day over the last seven days has gone up to 32, compared to 28 reported Wednesday.

There have been a total of 10,697 cases of COVID-19 reported in Sarnia-Lambton since the start of the pandemic.

There are six active outbreaks in the community. The latest was reported Thursday at Lambton Meadowview Villa in Petrolia.

Bluewater Health is caring for 12 COVID-positive patients, which is down from 15 reported on Thursday. Less than five patients are in the ICU.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
