CK police officer facing charges following domestic incident

A Chatham-Kent police officer is facing a trio of charges related to an off-duty domestic incident.

According to Chatham-Kent Police Service Public Information Officer Sergeant Lynette Hodder, the officer was charged on Monday with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, uttering threats to damage property, and mischief.

The charges stem from an incident that was reported to and investigated by Ontario Provincial Police on Sunday.

"No further information will be released in order to protect the identity of the victim, integrity of the investigation and subsequent criminal court process along with pending Police Services Act investigation," Hodder said in a media release.

The officer has been suspended from duty with pay, and was released from custody with a future court date set for April 28.
