Local COVID-19 death toll rises

For the second time this week, Lambton Public Health has reported a death related to COVID-19.

The local death toll is now up to 137. The latest death was an individual in their 80s.

Since its last update on Wednesday, the health unit has reported 105 new infections. The average number of cases per day over the last seven days is 32.

There have been a total of 11,252 confirmed cases reported in the community since the start of the pandemic.

Meantime, Bluewater Health has reported 13 patients in hospital with COVID-19 and less than five are in intensive care.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
