Drivers charged in connection to Highway 401 crash in Ridgetown

Two people have been charged following a crash involving multiple vehicles on the 401 in Ridgetown last week.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Chatham-Kent said a 41-year-old Windsor resident has been charged with careless driving, while a 55-year-old resident of Elora has been charged with following too closely.

Police said the collision between three transport trucks and two passenger vehicles on Thursday afternoon forced the closure of the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 from Victoria Road to Kent Bridge Road.

The highway was shut down for nearly three hours.

Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
