LPH monitoring five active COVID outbreaks

Lambton Public Health is monitoring five outbreaks of COVID-19 in congregate living settings.

The latest were declared on Monday at Country Manor Estates Retirement Home in Lambton Shores and Christian Horizons in Sarnia.

Since an outbreak was declared on April 7 at Lambton Meadowview Villa in Petrolia, 67 residents and 12 staff have tested positive for the virus.

In its update Wednesday, the health unit reported 24 new lab confirmed cases since Monday.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 11,591 infections and 141 local deaths.

The average number of cases per day over the last seven days is 20.

There are 12 COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, down from 13 on Monday. The Sarnia hospital said fewer than five of the positive patients are in the ICU.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
