Local COVID death toll up four

The COVID-19 death toll in Sarnia-Lambton has risen to 145.

In its update Friday, Lambton Public Health reported four more deaths since Wednesday's report.

An individual in their 60s passed away in hospital, and two individuals in their 80s and one in their 90s died at long-term care facilities.

The health unit reported 61 more lab confirmed cases of the virus for a total of 11,652 since March 2020. The average number of cases per day over the last seven days is 19.

Lambton Public Health continues to monitor five outbreaks at congregate living settings, unchanged since its last update.

There are nine COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, down from 12 on Wednesday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
