UPDATE: Thunderstorms possible across southwestern Ontario

A special weather statement for parts of southwestern Ontario has ended.

Environment Canada was tracking a line of thunderstorms over Michigan Saturday morning, capable of producing very strong winds gusts up to 100 kilometres an hour, heavy rain and nickel to toonie sized hail.

Thunderstorms rolled through Sarnia-Lambton, Chatham-Kent and London-Middlesex ahead of the noon hour, bringing heavy rainfall to the region.

There's a risk of more thunderstorm activity into the evening hours.

Residents are reminded that strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings and break branches off trees, possibly resulting in local power outages.
