Maroons fall in Sutherland Cup Final

The Chatham Maroons' Cinderella season came to an end at home Sunday night.

The Maroons lost to St. Catharines 8-2 as the Falcons won the best-of-three GOJHL Sutherland Cup Final in two games.

St. Catharines struck first, but Isaac Legood tied it up at 14:00 in the first period. After that, the Maroons were unable to find the back of the net until late in the third when Craig Spence scored.

The Falcons slowed down Chatham's offence, only allowing eight shots the entire game. The Maroons didn't even get a shot on net in the second period.

Chatham goaltender Nolan DeKoning only faced 16 shots, making 8 saves.

Over 2,200 fans were in attendance for the game at Chatham Memorial Arena.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
