Man charged with attempted murder in Wallaceburg shooting

Attempted murder charges have been laid against a 55-year-old man from Chatham Township after a shooting in Wallaceburg.

Police in Chatham-Kent said several witnesses reported gunfire at Shiloh Park in Wallaceburg Saturday night around 11 p.m.  When officers arrived, they found a house that had been hit with bullets several times.

Investigators said the home was occupied at the time of the shooting, but no one was physically hurt.

A suspect was arrested a couple of hours later and remains in custody waiting for a bail hearing.

"This was a targeted occurrence, and there is no threat to public safety," police said in a news release issued on Monday afternoon.
