It will be a hot week in southern Ontario

Environment Canada has forecast a three-day heat wave for the southern tip of Ontario.

A heat warning will go into effect for Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex, and Leamington on Monday. The area should expect temperatures in the low 30s with even hotter temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The weather agency said that there will be little relief from the heat in the overnight hours and that there's potential for the heat to carry into Thursday or even Friday.

People are advised to keep an eye on anyone who may suffer from poor air quality; especially the very old and the very young.

Other ways to keep cool in the heat include:

• scheduling outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day

• keeping your house cool by closing curtains or blinds

• eating cool, light meals

• staying hydrated by drinking lots of water
