OPP name two cyclists killed in crash at Walpole Island

Two cyclists who were struck and killed on Walpole Island Wednesday morning, have been identified.

Lambton OPP said 36-year-old Michelle White and 50-year-old Gretta Williams, both from the First Nation, were struck before 5 a.m. on River Road and pronounced dead at the scene.

Cst. Jamie Bydeley said the driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A section of River Road between Firehall Road and Austin Road was closed for several hours while police investigated.

Bydeley said the investigation is continuing and that police will provide updates when they become available. Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or *OPP (677) on a mobile phone.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
