House fire in Chatham-Kent causes $100,000 of damage

The Chatham-Kent Fire Department (CKFD) responded to a house fire in Chatham at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The fire department said that the three people in the home on King Street East at the time were able to escape the building without injury.

Though fire crews were able to extinguish the flames quickly it's estimated that $100,000 of damage was done to the home.

CKFD said that the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
