Assault in Tilbury leads to manslaughter charge for youth

Chatham-Kent police have arrested and charged a youth with manslaughter.

Police said the youth was charged with manslaughter after the victim of an assault in Tilbury in June succumbed to their injuries.

Police reported on Thursday afternoon that they began an investigation into an aggravated assault that occurred on June 6, 2022 at the intersection of Queen Street and Louise Street in Tilbury. The assault resulted in the victim suffering a severe and life-threatening injury.

On June 10, 2022, a male youth, who can’t be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. On June 27, 2022, the victim succumbed to their injuries in the hospital, according to police.

Police are not making the victim's identity public.

Police said the suspect was arrested and charged with manslaughter on Thursday.
