What's open and closed in Chatham-Kent this Civic Holiday

There are a few closures across Chatham-Kent to look out for this Civic Holiday.

Here’s a list of what’s open and closed Monday, August 1.

Garbage and recycling collection will be pushed back by one day in Chatham-Kent to accommodate the Civic Holiday long weekend.

Municipal offices and most services will be closed Monday and all Ride CK transit services will also not be operating.

The Chatham Capitol Theatre, Kiwanis Theatre, Chatham Cultural Centre, Chatham-Kent Museum, Thames Art Gallery, ARTspace, Milner Heritage House and Ridge House Museum will be closed on Monday as well as all libraries across the municipality.

However, the Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool, Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool and the seven outdoor pools located in Chatham, Dresden, Ridgetown, Thamesville and Tilbury will be open with their regular schedule on Monday.

Several services at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance will also be altered for the Civic Holiday.

Routine x-rays, electrocardiograms, and ultrasounds will not be available on Monday at the hospitals in Chatham and Wallaceburg. However, the departments will be staffed for emergencies.

Emergency Services such as police, fire and ambulance are operational 24 hours a day, every day, and are accessible by dialing 911 for emergency calls only. The Fire Administration office will be closed on Monday and will re-open Tuesday.

Entegrus and the Public Utilities Commission will be closed. The emergency call number is 519-352-6300.

The Health and Family Services building will be closed Monday including the offices of Employment and Social Services, Housing Services, Child Care and Early Years, and Public Health.

All EarlyON programs are closed Monday.

CK Recreation Stay n Play day camp programs will be open during regular hours on Monday.

The Thames Campus and Blenheim arenas are open for scheduled rentals. All other arenas are closed Monday.

All Leaf and Yard Depots will be closed.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
