Dirt biker dies after crash near Ridgetown

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a crash just north of Ridgetown that claimed the life of a dirt biker Thursday night.

Police said the dirt bike was heading west on a gravel path when the rider tried to cross Victoria Road near Gosnell Line just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday and was hit by an SUV that was heading north on Victoria Rd.

The driver of the dirt bike was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries. Police said his name is being withheld out of respect for the family.

No one in the SUV was hurt.
