High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

The daily average number of COVID-19 cases in Sarnia-Lambton has dropped below the double-digits.
<a href="https://lambtonpublichealth.ca/2019-novel-coronavirus/">Lambton Public Health</a> said the average number of cases over the last week has fallen to nine from 11.
In its weekly update Wednesday, the health unit reported 64 new lab confirmed infections and no new deaths.
Three congregate living settings are dealing with active outbreaks, and there are fewer than five COVID-positive patients at <a href="https://www.bluewaterhealth.ca/covid-19-novel-coronavirus-information-frequently-asked-questions">Bluewater Health</a>.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, there have been 12,804 confirmed cases in Sarnia-Lambton.
