The state funeral for Queen Elizabeth II will take place on September 19 at Westminster Abbey in London, according to palace officials.
Elizabeth, the nation’s longest-reigning sovereign, died Thursday at the age of 96.
In a statement released Saturday, officials said the Queen will lie in state at Westminster Hall for four days, to allow the public to pay their respects.

"The Queen's coffin currently rests in the Ballroom at Balmoral Castle," read the statement. "Her Majesty's coffin will travel to Edinburgh tomorrow, Sunday, September 11, by road, to arrive at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, where it will rest in the Throne Room until the afternoon of Monday, September 12."
It will later lie in state at Westminster Hall from Wednesday, September 14 until the morning of the funeral which will take place at London's Westminster Abbey.
"During the lying in state, members of the public will have the opportunity to visit Westminster Hall to pay their respects to The Queen," read the statement. "On the morning of Monday, September 19, the lying in state will end and the coffin will be taken in procession from the Palace of Westminster to Westminster Abbey, where the State Funeral Service will take place."
After that, the coffin will travel to Windsor Castle where a committal service will take place in St. George's Chapel.
