COVID-19 outbreak at Sarnia Jail

Lambton Public Health is reporting a COVID-19 outbreak at the Sarnia Jail.

In its weekly update the health unit said there are fewer than five cases among inmates and fewer than five cases among staff.

It's one of two outbreaks. The other was reported last Thursday at Marshall Gowland Manor.

The health unit is reporting 91 new lab confirmed cases of the virus over the last week, increasing the average number of daily cases to 12.

Since the start of the pandemic there have been 12,895 cases locally, and 150 related deaths.

Bluewater Health is treating less than five COVID-positive patients at the Sarnia hospital.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
