There are seven names on the ballot for the position of chief, including current chief Charles Sampson who is looking to serve another term.
Voters will also choose from 27 candidates running for one of the 12 seats on band council.
Polls are open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Walpole Island First Nation Governance Building on Tahgahoning Road.
Counting will take place immediately after the polls close.
