LPH reports another COVID-19 death

The local COVID-19 death toll has risen to 152.

Lambton Public Health reported the latest death in its weekly update Wednesday. The health unit said a woman in her 70s died in hospital.

The health unit reported 120 new lab confirmed cases of the virus, increasing the average number of daily cases to 17.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, the health unit has recorded 13,123 cases.

There are five active outbreaks, three of them in long-term care settings.

At Bluewater Health, there are eight COVID-positive patients, less than five of whom are in the ICU.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
