One person killed in house fire near Newbury

One person was found dead after fire broke out inside of a farmhouse southwest of Newbury Saturday morning.

Dawn-Euphemia and Chatham-Kent Fire Services and Middlesex OPP were called to the blaze at 696 Cameron Road around 7 a.m.

Firefighters found the body of the deceased person while conducting a search of the home.

The identity of that individual has not been released.

Police and fire investigators, including those from the Ontario Fire Marshal's office, were on scene throughout the day probing the cause of the blaze.

The Ontario Fire Marshal's office investigates all fatal fires across the province.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
