LPH reported uptick in daily COVID cases

The daily average number of COVID-19 cases in Sarnia-Lambton is trending higher.

Lambton Public Health is reporting a daily average of 19 lab confirmed cases over the last week.

In its update Wednesday, the health unit reported 126 new cases of the virus.

Since the start of the pandemic over two years ago, there have been 13,249 infections locally, and 152 related deaths.

There are 10 active outbreaks, over half of which are in long-term care and retirement home settings.

The most recent was declared on Monday, October 3 at Village on the St. Clair Retirement Home in Sarnia.

Bluewater Health is caring for nine COVID-positive patients.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
