Man charged with second degree murder after altercation in Chatham

A 35-year-old man is facing a second-degree murder charge after an altercation in Chatham Friday afternoon.

Chatham-Kent police were notified at 4 p.m. Friday after a man arrived at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with life-threatening injuries.

Police learned that the victim, a 28-year-old man, was involved in an altercation with another man at a residence on Colborne Street in Chatham.

Despite life saving efforts, the man later died in the hospital.

Police say a 35-year-old man allegedly responsible has since been charged with second-degree murder, and has been remanded into custody until Oct. 11.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
