Two injured in freight train collision

Chatham-Kent police are reporting that a crash involving a car and a freight train in Thamesville this weekend sent two Dresden men to the hospital with injuries.

The extent of their injuries is not known at this time. Police say the collision took place just before 8 p.m. Sunday night in the area of Base Line and Industrial Road.

The driver, a 48-year-old Dresden man, was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention while his passenger, a 50-year-old Dresden man, was taken to the hospital in Newbury before being air-lifted to a London hospital for further medical treatment.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
