COVID related death toll in Sarnia-Lambton at 153

There has been another local death related to COVID-19.

Lambton Public Health said the death toll has risen to 153. A man in his 80s died in hospital.

In its weekly update, the health unit reported 154 new lab confirmed cases of the virus, for a total of 13,515 since the start of the pandemic over two years ago.

The daily average number of cases has risen to 20 from 18 a week ago.

There are seven active outbreaks, six of which are at local long-term care and retirement homes.

There are nine COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
