Retired CK police officer returns to court next month to get trial date

A former Chatham-Kent police officer will have her trial date confirmed next month.

The case of Cristelle VandenEnden was up in Chatham court on Friday and will return to court December 20, 2022 to get a date for her trial.

Her fraud charges have been withdrawn, according to her defence lawyer.

VandenEnden still faces charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

She changed her mind about a trial in September.

A publication ban prevents further information from being made public. The purpose of the ban is to preserve the rights of the defendant to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence.
