Goodfellows smash Porchlight fundraising record

The community of Chatham continues to support the Goodfellows in a big way.

On Monday night, hundreds of volunteers went door-to-door for the annual Porchlight fundraiser, bringing in $59,789 in donations, almost $10,000 more than the previous record-breaking total in 2021.

The Chatham Goodfellows board said they were left utterly speechless by this year's total.

Their next round of fundraising is Street Sales on Friday, December 9, and Saturday, December 10.

All of the money raised is used to purchase food and toys for their No Child Without a Christmas campaign, which is now in its 68th year.

Last year, the Chatham Goodfellows raised $215,000 in total, including $50,087 on its annual Porchlight fundraiser in 2021.

The deadline to apply for a food or toy hamper is this Friday, December 2. Existing clients can apply online at www.chathamgoodfellows.ca, and new clients can call the office at 519-354-1146.
