Search in Chatham turns up $73K in fentanyl, meth, oxycodone

A 44-year-old man is facing drug trafficking and weapons-related charges after Chatham-Kent police reported finding about $73,500 worth of illegal drugs during a bust in Chatham.

Police said members of the CKPS Intelligence Section teamed up with the Critical Incident Response Team to execute a search warrant on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation.

Officers allegedly found and seized some fentanyl, methamphetamine, and oxycodone along with a large amount of Canadian currency, an airsoft pistol, digital scales, and other drug-related equipment.

Police said the investigation also showed that the man they arrested in connection with the case was bound by prohibition orders and release orders. He was also a suspect in a stolen vehicle investigation.

A 44-year-old Chatham man was charged with three counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts each of failing to comply with a release order and possession of a restricted weapon contrary to a prohibition order, and one count each of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property.

He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
