Chatham man accused of threatening hotel staff member
A 25-year-old Chatham man is facing a handful of charges after he allegedly threatened a hotel staff member with a knife and then lied to police about who he was.
Chatham-Kent police said they arrested the man after officers were called to investigate a disturbance at the Holiday Inn in Chatham at around 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
Police said the man left the hotel after threatening the employee, but officers were able to find him a short distance away.
When police were arresting him, he also allegedly gave the officers a false name.
The man was charged with uttering threats, assault with a weapon, and obstructing police and was taken back to police headquarters.
He was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

OPP lend CKPS a helping hand to find fraud suspect
Chatham-Kent OPP gave their colleagues at the Chatham-Kent Police Service an early Christmas present Wednesday night.
Chatham-Kent police said the OPP notified them at around 9:15 p.m. that they had a man in custody who was wanted on two outstanding warrants held by CKPS.
The 41-year-old Highgate man was handed over to Chatham-Kent police and charged with fraud, criminal harassment, unauthorized use of a credit card, and possession of stolen property.
He was taken to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Two wanted men found in Chatham
Chatham-Kent police have caught up a pair of local men who were both wanted for failing to attend court.
Police said the first man they arrested was a 52-year-old Chatham resident.
They found him at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday on Grand Avenue East in Chatham and he was later released with a future court date.
The second man was a 37-year-old Chatham resident who was wanted in connection with a theft investigation in addition to skipping court.
He was arrested just before 2 p.m. Thursday on Riverview Drive in Chatham and later released with a future court date.
