Lambton Public Health is reporting fewer than 50 new cases of COVID-19 in the last week.
In its update Wednesday, the health unit reported 49 lab confirmed cases of the virus, up from 39 the week before.
The daily average number of cases is down slightly at six, and outbreaks have been declared at four long-term care and retirement homes.
The health unit says since eligibility testing in Ontario is limited to those in contact with high-risk settings, the latest numbers are an under-estimate of the true number of area residents with COVID-19.
