Daily average COVID case count continues downward trend

The daily average number of COVID-19 cases locally continues to drop.

In its weekly update Wednesday, Lambton Public Health reported 29 new lab confirmed cases of the virus, with a daily average of four cases.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, there have been 14,648 confirmed infections locally and 167 related deaths.

According to the health unit, there are no active outbreaks of the virus at this time.

Lambton Public Health reminds residents the eligibility testing in Ontario is limited to those in contact with high-risk settings, and the latest numbers are an under-estimate of the true number of area residents with the virus.

At Bluewater Health, there are fewer than five COVID-positive patients.
