UPDATE: Charge laid after Hwy. 40 crash in Wallaceburg

An 88-year-old Chatham resident is charged with careless driving after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 40 in Wallaceburg Thursday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police said emergency crews were called to the scene between Arnold Road and Walnut Drive just before 8 a.m. Thursday after two vehicles collided head-on.

One of the drivers was taken to the hospital while the other driver was assessed at the scene. OPP said the injuries were all considered "non-life threatening."

A section of Hwy. 40 was closed in Wallaceburg for the investigation and the cleanup, but it re-opened just before 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
