COVID death toll in Sarnia-Lambton reaches 168

The local COVID-19 death toll has risen to 168.

In its weekly update, Lambton Public Health reported another death linked to the virus, an individual in their 70s who died in hospital.

The health unit reported 79 new lab confirmed cases of the virus. That's up from 39 reported in last week's update. The daily average number of cases has doubled from five to 10.

Lambton Public Health continues to monitor one active outbreak at Vision Nursing Home in Sarnia.

There are 17 COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, up from eight just a week ago.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
