About 10 to 15 centimetres of snowfall is expected in southwestern Ontario on Friday.
A special weather statement was issued for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-Lambton, London-Middlesex, Elgin, and Oxford Counties on Wednesday.
However, the statement was upgraded to a winter weather travel advisory by Thursday afternoon.
Precipitation will begin Friday morning and taper off at night as the system moves eastward, according to Environment Canada.
Commuters can expect their morning and evening drive to be impacted by weather conditions. Visibility could be reduced during times of heavy snow.
Ground surfaces like highways, roads, sidewalks, and parking lots could also become icy and slippery.
"Given some remaining uncertainty in the track of the system, some adjustments to forecast snow amounts may be required as the event draws nearer," said a statement from the weather agency.
