Gateway Casinos facilities still closed after 'cyber security incident'

A cyber security incident is getting the blame for shutting down a number of Gateway Casinos facilities across Ontario.

Gateway Casinos released a statement Monday night saying a cyber security incident was detected over the weekend and that the facilities will still be closed for "the coming days" as they work with third-party cyber professionals to restore their IT systems.

The shutdown affects Cascades Casino in Chatham, Starlight Casino in Point Edward, Gateway Casinos in Sarnia, London, Woodstock, and Clinton, and Playtime Casino in Hanover.

The company said at this point, it doesn't look like any of its customers' personal data was compromised, but they are "notifying relevant privacy officials and gaming regulators" of the incident.

The statement said they appreciate the continued patience of their employees, customers, and government partners.

Further updates will be posted as they become available.
