UPDATE: Crash cleared on Hwy. 401 in Dutton

The eastbound lanes of the Highway 401 should be open again in the Dutton area after a crash early Friday morning involving a transport truck.

Ontario Provincial Police said just before 5:30 a.m. Friday that they had shut down the eastbound lanes of the highway between Currie Road (Exit 149) and Iona Road (Exit 157) in the Dutton-area after a crash. They re-opened one lane of the highway for a short time, but closed all of the lanes again for the removal of a transport truck involved in the crash.

The road was expected to re-open shortly after 9 a.m. Friday and the Ministry of Transportation said as of 10 a.m. Friday that the collision had been cleared. However, OPP didn't report the area as being cleared until 3 p.m.

There is no official confirmation yet on how serious the crash was.
